Hearth specialises in the making of natural stone hand-carved fireplaces, alongside traditional stone carving, restoration and lettering.

Located on the Somerset/Dorset border, our company is built upon an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, using traditional skills to offer clients a bespoke and personal service.

Stone Carving


Design and creation of bespoke stone carving, spanning classic to contemporary designs, including fireplaces staircases, archways, windows, urns, copings and various architectural elements.

Stone restoration


Expert stone restoration services, assessing and rejuvenating natural or historical stone structures through techniques like cleaning, repairing, and selective re-carving.

Lettering


Personalised design and carving services for plaques, memorials, ledgers, and headstones, employing traditional techniques with hand tools for a timeless, elegant finish.

Meet Harrison


Hearth Founder Harrison studied his craft at the City of Bath College, completing a course deep-diving into traditional stonemasonry, stone carving, drafting, lettering and restoration techniques.

Since then, he has worked across a broad spectrum of stonemasonry projects, including architectural carvings, complex tracery, cantilever staircases, letter carving and much more.

Throughout his work in stonemasonry, Harrison’s particular passion for designing and making hand-carved fire surrounds has developed, leading to the creation of the bespoke fireplaces arm of the company.

Whilst Harrison's workshop is nestled in the Dorset countryside, he has worked on behalf of numerous high profile clients, both nationally and internationally.
